If you have applied the hotfix SP78_HotFix05_OnlineHelp to Silk Performer 2008 R2 and are still unable to access the Online Help, this may be due to the Internet Explorer setting "Bypass proxy server for local addresses". If you use a proxy server for your LAN and experience the above issue, please select the option " Bypass proxy server for local addresses " in your Internet Explorer LAN settings: INTERNET EXPLORER | TOOLS | INTERNET OPTIONS | CONNECTIONS | LAN SETTINGS | PROXY SERVER. If the above does not resolve the issue, the problem could be a system specific issue with Firefox in general, particularly after the Google Toolbar has been installed. See the Mozilla site for more details - kb.mozillazine.org/Windows_error_opening_Internet_shortcut_or_local_HTML_file_-_Firefox The following steps will resolve: Open Windows Explorer (or My Computer). Go to Tools / Folder Options / File Types Select Extension: "(NONE)" File Type: "URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol" Click "Advanced". In the "Edit File Type" window, select "open" and click "Edit" Uncheck "Use DDE" (the dialog should then hide the lower part). Click OK for that dialog and the next one (although we have disabled the "Use DDE" option it is automatically re-enabled by the system however the "DDE Message" box should be cleared. Repeat for Extension: "(NONE)" File Type: "URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol with Privacy" Repeat for Extension: "(NONE)" File Type: "Firefox URL" Repeat for Extension: "HTM" (or "HTML") File Type: "Firefox Document" NOTE: The workaround only works until the next software update, then it must be reapplied. There is a registry fix which appears to work for this issue and may ease the pain of having to redo the workaround on multiple computers. However, this is not supplied or supported by Mirco Focus and is applied completely at users own risk, usual recommendations to back up the registry before manipulating should be followed. it can be found here - http://www.donationcoder.com/Forums/bb/index.php?action=percentage;topic=18647.0
