Wiki Page: What is the effect of increasing TCP/IP user ports numbers to increase connects per second?

This is configured in Silk Performer under 'TOOLS | SYSTEM CONFIGURATION MANAGER | SYSTEM TUNING Tab | Highest User Port Number'. This is an Operating System setting that defines the number of concurrent TCP/IP connections that can be established from the client computer to the server being tested.  The default value is 5000 as the Operating System does not expect a machine to need to have to make more ports available than this.  However this is configurable to reflect customer port allocation needs. There is no system performance penalty for changing the optimised number of connects per second. If a load test is generating a very high number of concurrent TCP/IP connections against a server then increasing the value from 5000 may allow more Virtual Users to be run on the client.
