When recording scripts in SilkPerformer it is important to clear the browser cache and cookies before recording so as all required documents are called from the server and not from local storage. Failure to do this will result in generating scripts which are difficult to customize and will not represent real world scenarios. A change in Internet Explorer version 8.0 means that clearing cache and cookies requires an additional step to complete this task successfully. If you have added the application under test to your Internet Explorer favourites folder then Internet Explorer will preserve its cookie data when clearing cache and cookies normally. An extra step is now required to clear the data fully. In Internet Explorer choose Tools menu, Delete Browsing History and then uncheck Preserve Favorites website data and then click delete.
