Borland proudly announces: Silk Performer 16.0 is released! If you already use Silk Performer and you have a maintenance contract, you can  upgrade to Silk Performer 16.0 for free. Silk Performer is the one stop performance testing tool, which takes pressure from you by adding load to your application. Silk Performer allows you to create realistic load tests with up to hundreds of thousands of virtual users running across a broad range of enterprise application environments, including mobile and the latest web 2.0 technologies. Silk Performer once again introduces significant enhancements with version 16.0. Here's a quick overview: Highlights of Silk Performer 16.0 Network emulation Silk Performer 16.0 allows you to specify network parameters to simulate a variety of wired, wireless, and mobile network technologies. You can then use the emulated network in your load test. The network parameters you can specifiy include bandwidth limitation, packet drop rate, and latency, and you can configure these values through a convenient user interface for each settings profile. Silk Performer provides some reasonable presets for network emulation, which you can use as a starting point for your own settings. Of course, you can adjust all settings according to your very own needs and therefore simulate specific network environments. Performance Explorer Enhancements Silk Performer 16.0 provides a whole range of enhancements for Performance Explorer, Silk Performer's results analysis and monitoring tool. The following enhancement you will probably notice at first glance: Performance Explorer comes with a completely redesigned main user interface using a Ribbon component. The Ribbon is a rectangular area on top of Performance Explorer and is composed of several permanent and contextual tabs. The Ribbon not only makes for a clear and neat interface but also ensures that the huge functionality of Performance Explorer is easily accessible with just a few clicks. Performance Explorer now also allows you to resample both a single .tsd file and a load test, that is, all .tsd files of the specified load test. This way, you can change the interval and the timeframe of charts, tables, and the Overview Report including the User Type section. Two other enhancements in Performance Explorer are related to charts and graphs: It is now possible to show the standard deviation of a specified measure as a colored area around the related graph. And, Performance Explorer introduces so called virtual user-based charts. These show the number of virtual users on the x-axis, in contrast to time-based charts, which display the time on the x-axis. Web Protocol-Level Enhancements With Silk Performer 16.0, you can now also record 64-bit applications. There is no need for you to change or tweak any settings - 64-bit recording works out-of-the-box. The new Silk Performer release offers the innovative offline scripting approach now for all web-based project types. The offline scripting approach works in two separate steps: in the first step, the entire traffic generated during a recording session is capture by the Silk Performer Recorder. In the second step, the captured data is used to generate a script, while considering scripting settings and recording rules. Usability Enhancements As with every new release, Silk Performer also offers a number of usability enhancements in version 16.0. One of these enhancements is the possibility to structure your TrueLogs with sections. The sections are inserted during recording and appear as nodes in the tree when you analyze and view the recorded actions later in TrueLog Explorer. The Workload Configuration dialog holds another useful enhancement: You can now enable and disable all user types at once, which is particularly helpful if you work with a lot of user types and if you enable and disable them often. Performance Explorer now automatically stores performance data when a load test is executed. Automatic recording of performance data is enabled by default. You can disable the setting in the Data Source Wizard by disabling  Store data of selected measures . CloudBurst ERP support Silk Performer 16.0 also offers a couple of enhancements in the CloudBurst area. One of them is the possibility to execute SAPGUI, OracleForms and Citrix load tests through the built-in CloudBurst VPN.
