If you can get Silk Performer to hook to your particular application, you can capture traffic between the application and server. This traffic can be TCP/IP, Citrix/Citrix Web Interface, HTTP(S), FTP, LDAP, POP3, SMTP, SOCKS, Flex/AMF3, mixed protocols, XML/SOAP, Oracle Forms, terminal emulation (TN3270, TN5250, VT100, VT200+), ODBC, DB2, Oracle, SAP, Java RMI/EJB, Java Message Server, Corba/IIOP and some variations of these or associated technologies such as Silverlight, Java over HTTP, asynchronous web communications, high-level and low-level HTTP etc. You can also drive Silk Test tests by using Silk Performer GUI-Level Testing. It consists of having tests on a web or Windows-based application to obtain performance results in Silk Performer. Please refer to the product documentation at this page for more details: supportline.microfocus.com/productdoc.aspx Select Silk - Software Test Management, Test Automation and Performance Testing Silk Performer 16.0 It's worth also looking at the Learning Center for more information: www.borland.com/.../Learning-center I would recommend you download a trial version of the current release of Silk Performer (16.0), create an application configuration for your particular application (See Help) and verify the traffic recorded if you're unsure of what traffic to expect. Just as an example, if you have an ODBC database client, which is a Windows-based application, and you successfully create an application configuration for it, you'd be able to capture ODBC traffic and later customize it for your needs.
