Silk Performer supports GUI-level load testing (load testing of fat-client applications). To test these applications, Silk Performer uses Windows Terminal Services to connect to and open client sessions on agent computers. Silk Test launches clients, runs GUI level tests, and communicates results back to Silk Performer. A GUI-level testing session is opened through the Remote Desktop protocol. This connection is established without a GUI. Note: GUI-level testing only works on Windows server edition platforms. Windows Home or Professional editions can only be used as agents for a single GUI level testing virtual user. Prerequisites Windows Server operating systems is required on all agent machines (2003, 2008/R2 and 2012). Premium Virtual User license for Silk Performer. Interactive login must be disabled in Windows Server. Per Device client access licenses are recommended for Terminal Services. Windows user accounts need to be members of either the remote desktop or administrator group. Specific Windows configuration is available in the Silk Performer User Guide under START | PROGRAMS | SILK | SILK PERFORMER | DOCUMENTATION | USER GUIDE. Scalability Due to the factors involved GUI level testing uses more resources than other load testing methods. The Silk Performer help files contain a scalability matrix giving approximate values for scalability achieved through internal testing.
