In this blog article, we're going to show you how you can benefit from running your load tests with cloud agents using Silk Performer CloudBurst. Besides the many advantages CloudBurst offers, it also lets you configure all the necessary settings quite easily in Cloud Agent Manager. Therefore, we will also show you some little tips and tricks when working with Cloud Agent Manager, so let's get started. Advantages of using CloudBurst The image above lists and illustrates a couple of advantages. These are the four main benefits of using CloudBurst: Availability : Cloud agents are available within minutes, which saves you time, because no setup or maintenance work is required. Deployment : Cloud agents can be deployed easily and quickly. You can choose your cloud agents from a variety of regions across the globe. Scalability : No matter if you need hundreds of cloud agents or just two of them, you can increase or decrease their number at any time. Maintenance : With CloudBurst you save maintenance cost, as you only pay for the time your cloud agents are actually running. The Cloud Agent Manager is the control center for all your tasks around setting up and controlling cloud agents. Here are some tips that might be useful for you when working with Cloud Agent Manager: Copy details from Cloud Agent Manager You can copy detail information of your cloud agents and IP addresses like the region name or the expiry time to the clipboard and paste this information into a text editor. To do so, we first have to start Cloud Agent Manager. In Silk Performer, click Tools,  Cloud Agent Manager , and login with your CloudBurst credentials. If you have no cloud agents running, you need to start some by clicking Start Agents in the menu on the top. The agents will then appear in the grid in Cloud Agent Manager. Now you can select one or more agents, right-click a name, and click Copy Details . Open any text editor or word processor and paste the information. You can paste the data also in a spreadsheet program, as you can see in the image below. This is especially useful as the data will automatically be put in individual cells. Download results of failed load tests If the connection to a cloud agent is lost during a load test run, Silk Performer automatically tries to download the results from these cloud agents. If for any reason the automatic download does not work, you can also manually download the data. Here's how to do it: In Cloud Agent Manager, right-click an agent and click Retrieve Results . Specify a target folder and click the download icon or the Download All button. For each cloud agent a .zip file is downloaded to the target folder. When you extract the files, you have access to all the result data. Note that you can only access the data while the cloud agents are still running. Reserve IP addresses for cloud agents The above mentioned tips are new features of Silk Performer 16. Reserving IP addresses, however, already is a well-established CloudBurst feature since a couple of Silk Performer versions. So, it's good to know about this useful concept. Reserving IP addresses prevents you from specifying IP address exceptions for your firewall again and again. Just click Reserve Addresses in Cloud Agent Manager, specify a region, and click Reserve - that's all you have to do. The IP addresses will stay reserved until you manually release them.
