SilkPerformer's Performance Explorer can be used to retrieve " v$systate" monitoring data from an Oracle 10g Database. This enables you to track various aspects of the Database"s Performance in Real-Time, which can help facilitate the identification of bottlenecks. There are three prerequisites which need to be fulfilled in order to be able to monitor an Oracle 10G Database via the v$systate" table An Oracle client is installed on the same machine as the SilkPerformer Performance Explorer. You can successfully query the "v$systat" table from outside of Performance Explorer. This can be verified by using the SQLPlus executable provided by the Oracle client. You have a valid SilkPerformer SAM license. To configure Performance Explorer to Monitor the " v$systate" measures on an Oracle 10g database, use the following steps: 1. Select "Monitor Server from the Performance Explorer toolbar 2. Choose "Select from Predefined Data Sources" in the Data Source Wizard 3. Select: Database System Oracle ( v$systate ) System Statistics ( v$systate ) 4. Enter the Hostname of machine Database resides on. 5. Provide Connection String, Username and Password required to connect to Oracle Databases's Table and retrieve System Statistics: 6. Select from the available System Statistics; those values that you wish to Monitor and save to tsd format: 7.
