If Silk Performer cannot be uninstalled through the usual methods of running the uninstaller it is possible to manually remove all traces of Silk Performer so a clean install can be run. Process Boot Windows into safe mode: Restart the machine and boot into safe mode. This can be achieved by pressing F8 during the startup process and selecting safe mode. This should unlock files for deletion which would normally be in use. Delete the Silk Performer program files: Click on Start | Run | Type c:\program files\silk Delete the entire Silk Performer directory for the version you are using. Also delete the program path from the Start menu. Delete Silk Performer out of Windows Add/Remove Programs Snap-in: Click on Start | Run | Type Regedit Locate the following key - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall Scroll down the list of keys, paying attention to the display name of each, until you find Silk Performer 200X Right click on the key and delete it. Delete unused file extensions: Click on Start | Run | Regedit Browse to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/scroll to BDF and right click and delete Browse to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/scroll to BDH and right click and delete Browse to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/scroll to BEX and right click and delete Browse to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/scroll to BRP and right click and delete Browse to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/scroll to ERR and right click and delete Browse to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/scroll to LRZ and right click and delete Browse to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/scroll to LTP and right click and delete Browse to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/scroll to LTZ and right click and delete Browse to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/scroll to NEF and right click and delete Browse to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/scroll to OVT and right click and delete Browse to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/scroll to PEW and right click and delete Browse to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/scroll to RND and right click and delete Browse to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/scroll to RPT and right click and delete Browse to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/scroll to SPICA and right click and delete Browse to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/scroll to SPPECMD and right click and delete Browse to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/scroll to SPWBCMD and right click and delete Browse to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/scroll to TSD and right click and delete Browse to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/scroll to WDF and right click and delete Browse to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/scroll to WRT and right click and delete Browse to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/scroll to XJH and right click and delete Browse to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/scroll to XJHH and right click and delete Browse to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/scroll to XRL and right click and delete Delete unused Registry Entries: Click on Start | Run | Regedit Browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Borland\ delete both Silk TrueLog Explorer and Silk Performer At this point the majority of Silk Performer files have been removed from the system and the program will no longer run or appear on the system. Installations may vary so fragmented files may remain on the system. To ensure all files are successfully removed it is recommended that you run a registry cleaning utility.
