WebLogic 5.1, 6.1, 7.x and 8.x provide SNMP information. WebLogic 6.0 does not provide SNMP information. In order to use the SNMP support it is necessary to manually start the SNMP agent that then collects the information and delivers it through the SNMP protocol.  The agent is started by using the command file 'startSNMPAgent.cmd' which is located in the weblogic installation directory (e.g. c:\weblogic).  As the command file contains some machine specific values (machine name, user ID, password), it is necessary to modify the file prior to starting the SNMP agent. Start SilkPerformer and open Monitor Server Click MONITOR SERVER on the worklflow toolbar Select "Select From Pre-defined Data Sources" Click NEXT Double Click CUSTOM DATA Double Click SNMP DATA Enter the name of the machine that WebLogic is installed on Enter the port that the SNMP service is running on (161 is the default SNMP port) Click NEXT From the drop down list Select "Compile New MIB" In the Specify MIB File dialog use the browse file button to locate the MIB file. The file is located in the following directory on the web server: C:\weblogic\classes\weblogic\management\snmp\mib\BEA-WEBLOGIC-MIB.asn1 Click COMPILE Select the MIB from the drop down list in the "1. Select A MIB" dialog The values provided in the MIB file can be selected from the SNMP tree displayed. Identify the SNMP value you require and click GET VALUES If the value can be retrieved a green tick will be displayed against the value in the SNMP tree Select a value in "2). Select A Value" dialog Click ADD Continue to ADD SNMP counters until you have added all values to be monitored and then click CLOSE. The MIB file for WebLogic 5.1 can be found at http://www.weblogic.com/docs51/admindocs/snmpmib.html Save the information on this page to a file and then make the following two modifications to the file: At the top of the file, insert the following lines: WEBLOGIC51-MIB DEFINITIONS ::= BEGIN Replace the "Imports" statement with "IMPORTS". The SilkPerformer MIB compiler is case sensitive.
