When multiple versions of SilkPerformer are installed it is possible that the wrong one may launch when double clicking on a project archive file or script file. All SilkPerformer file types have an entry in the registry which determines what program is launched when that file is double clicked. So if a project file is launched from the desktop, the wrong version may be launched to open the file. By default, the last version to be installed will be set as the version of choice for all SilkPerformer file type operations. So if SilkPerformer 2006 is installed after SilkPerformer 2008R2, 2006 will be launched instead of the latest version. There are two ways to change the version which opens: Reinstall the latest version of SilkPerformer - This will mean that all registry entries which control version selection will be updated to reflect the latest version. Benefits of this are that it is generally faster and safer than modifying the registry manually. Modify the registry manually By going to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SilkPerformer Project Archive File\shell\Open\command and modifying the value of the default entry, you can select any version to open this file type. Please note that each individual SilkPerformer file type has this registry key associated so you will need to modify all of them. While this may be time consuming it has the benefit of being able to set different versions of SilkPerformer to open different file types. NOTE: modifying the registry can seriously damage the computer so a backup of the registry should always be made before attempting manual modification.
