When you choose the option to have data sources detected (as shown below) Performance Explorer references a file called Dss.xml to determine which data sources it should query. There is a known issue in Silk Performer 7.0 that causes Performance Explorer to crash when querying ESNMP data sources. If you are not using ESNMP (normally used to detect F5 and BEA Weblogic data sources) then you can edit the dss.xml file and remove some ESNMP specific entries to enable the data source detection to complete. Before editing this file please make a copy of it. Browse to C:\Program Files\Segue\SilkPerformer 7.0\Working\Include and locate the dss.xml file and edit it with notepad. Simply search for in the file, this will display the ports of PerfMon, SNMP, ESNMP etc. Simply remove the following code from this section then save the file and try running the data source detection wizard again. ESNMP 161 If you continue to experience the crash after making these changes or if you need to use ESNMP then contact Support.
