When using Performance Explorer, you may set up a workspace that will monitor various values, and write these values to a TSD file by enabling the "Write Monitor Data" option, as shown in the blue box below: When this option is enabled, data being plotted in Performance Explorer graphs or tables is also stored in a TSD file for that test or monitoring session. It is common to save a workspace with this option enabled, then use the "Automatically Start Monitoring" option in Silk Performer to launch the workspace once the test begins, so that it is effectively writing statistics to a TSD file only for the duration of the test. For further information on setting this up please see the following resolution: How can I automatically include server-side measures, such as CPU utilization, in the Overview Report? It is possible however that an empty (0 bytes) TSD file can be generated for a test. The reason for this is that the test is being terminated before the first time interval for writing data is reached. For example, Performance Explorer may be set to write data to the TSD file every 30 seconds, but the test may have completed in 18 seconds. This means that no data would be written to the TSD file. To change the time interval for writing data to a TSD file, in Performance Explorer navigate to [SETTINGS | OPTIONS | TSD WRITER], then use the number field provided as shown below:
