The problem is that when the Controller machine has a service password set, this password also gets used for any remote Agents installed using the perfRsManager.exe tool from that Controller. Please note, this behaviour will be changed in a Silk Performer version later than 9.0. In this instance, the Controller service password is set in Silk Performer | Tools | System Configuration Manager | Service Status. When the perfRsManager.exe tool is used, its configures a password for the remote Agent launcher service in the file 'SgLauncher.xml'. This is typically found in the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Silk\Shared Files\SgLauncher on the Agent machine. In order to reset the password there are two options, both require access to the agent (for instance via remote desktop). 1. Locate SgLauncher.xml on the Agent. Edit the file and remove the encrypted password string from between the tags. Save the file and restart the Silk Launcher Service. You can locate and control services by opening a run command and typing "Services.msc". 2. On the Agent go to Start | All Programs | Silk | Silk Performer x.x | System Configuration Manager and select the 'Service Status' tab. Click the 'Change' button beside the Password field (also shown in the screenshot above) and remove the currently set password from both the 'New password' and 'Confirm new password' fields. Click OK and then Apply. Restart the Silk Launcher service as described in Option 1. It is of course still possible to connect to the Agent machine from the Controller using the perfRsManager.exe tool when a password is set. You just need to add the password to the command line parameter -pwdService. For more details on the perfRsManager.exe tool and the available parameters please see the Silk Performer Installation guide at Start | All Programs | Silk | Silk Performer | Documentation. This article just explains how to reset the password on the Agent service. For further help or support please contact http://supportline.microfocus.com Support Incident unknown. Old KB# 35695
