The simplest way is to use the telnet command. To do this: Open a command window Type Telnet 22 Wait for result once the connection has been established. The response you should get will be similar to the screenshot below. In this example we are using SSH version 1 as shown by the starting characters SSH-1 whereas version 2 will start with SSH-2.
