There is a known issue within Silk Performance Explorer 9.5 and 10.0, which leads to the PerfExp.exe process crashing when attempting to monitor JVM performance metrics, e.g. Silk Performance Explorer | Monitor | Add Data Source | Select from predefined Data Sources | Java | JVM Management | Sun JVM 1.6 (JMX MBeanServer), after the JDK/JRE folder has been moved from it's default install directory, i.e. C:\Program Files\Java or the JDK/JRE has been completely un-installed from the system. The removal of the JDK/JRE or moving of the folder, causes a conflict with entries which are included within jmx-config.xml file (.\include\jmx-config\jmx-config.xml). The crash can be identified by referring to the machines application event logs, there should be an entry that is similar to the following: Faulting application name: PerfExp.exe, version: 9.5.0.5471, time stamp: 0x50a63b0d Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 6.1.7600.16385, time stamp: 0x4a5bdb3b Exception code: 0xc0000374 Fault offset: 0x000cdcbb Faulting process id: 0xb8c Faulting application start time: 0x01ceb0a77a680feb Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Silk\Silk Performer 9.5\PerfExp.exe Faulting module path: C:\Windows\SysWOW64\ntdll.dll Report Id: c1ed6f0f-1c9a-11e3-8ade-0050560108f8 To workaround the issue, either return the JDK/JRE folder to it's default directory or uninstall and reinstall Silk Performer, so that the config files are updated with the correct path.  This has been recognised as a bug within Silk Performance Explorer 9.5 and 10.0, and which will be addressed with the release of Silk Performer 15.0
