I assume you are talking about - www.progress.com/.../index.html

I can’t recall having seen mention of this specifically but to test client server applications there are a few things you need to know about the specific application.  The first is the protocol used for network communications like http or RMI or something similar.  After this you need to know what executable within the application is responsible for generating network traffic.

Once you have this information go to SETTINGS | SYSTEM | RECORDER | APPLICATION PROFILES | ADD

- specify the path to the executable to record

- specify the protocol to use for recording.

You will now need to close down the application, start Silk Performer and then start the recorder through the recorder menu item and finally launch the application after the recorder launches.  If properly configured it should start to record the traffic.

This assumes your application communicates on a protocol which Silk Performer supports.  If it does not then there are some other options:

- java frameworks testing

- .net framework testing approach

- GUI level testing with Silk Test

- .dll integration
