This error occurs in SIlkPerformer 6.x when the "app.config" file, which is merged into the final "perfrun.exe.config" file during runtime, contains an illegal XML node. The SilkPerformer 6.x documentation specifies that the "app.config" file must not contain the root node; as this node is already used in the generated perfrun.exe.config. Therefore to prevent the error from occurring it is necessary to remove the root element "" from the "app.config" file so that the contents can be merged correctly with the "perfrun.exe.config". SilkPerformer 7.0 extended support to provide a full configured app.config file with all possible configuration sections.
